The Lobster Who Ran for Help

Thanks to the smarts of this lobster on death row in a French market, the acquatic innocent is now free thanks to Emanuelle. A woman with deep compassion and reverence for the insignificant crustacean caught in the net of human disconnect, ignorance, and greed.

One lucky individual

On the surface, an ordinary looking lobster. Inside the hard shell—bought for $160 EUROS, about $200 USD—a super powered individual lives.

Time for us to think outside the tank.

Emanuelle actually paid the seafood counter guy the EUROS. Then drove the lobster miles and miles back home to the sea.

If I were the one connecting with that lobster in the holding tank, I probably would have shed tears and/or sparks of rage, and then slumped away with sorry eyes. And self-served my ordinary, little self with, ‘well at least I don’t eat them’.

Emanuelle said she first saw the lobster hovering in the back corner of the tank with the other crustaceans. The moment s/he saw Emanuelle, it was as if those tiny onyx eyes lit up as s/he ran to her. Yet, the lobster cowered, ran back to the corner whenever other shoppers approached the tank. Somehow the lobster knew Emanuelle was safe. S/he perhaps sensed the vibration of Emanuelle’s kind heart emanating through eyes that were loving those frightened, crustacean eyes reaching out to her for help.
